It’s Pride week at The Firm, and we couldn’t be MORE excited! If you have ever been into The Firm, you know PRIDE is woven into everything that we do. So much so that it says it on our mission statement on the side of our building. This is our FAVORITE week of the year! To celebrate Pride we are highlighting members of our community that inspire us, and one of those members is Christopher Sorenson! Christopher is one of the brightest and genuine humans you will EVER meet. Read his full Pride interview below!
1/ Can you tell us a bit about your path and how you landed here at the Firm, in Minneapolis?
Christopher: In 2014 i made the decision to change careers and enrolled in massage therapy at the Aveda institute in Minneapolis. Corey Issac suggested coming to the Firm to get a feel for it and see if it would be a good fit as i prepared for placement after school. I fell in love with the energy and vitality of the Firm and the rest is history!
2/ What inspired you to be a part of the fitness community?
Christopher: Fitness has always been a huge part of my life. In my teens I competed on a state and junior olympic national level in nordic skiing. Later as a young adult I started running marathons and completed 6. My mother was a chiropractor and father did shiatsu massage. Growing up bodywork and healthy living was my only form of healthcare.
3/ How many years have you been a part of The Firm’s Pride float?
Christopher: 2018 will be my 3rd year with the Firm’s Pride float!
4/ What is one of your favorite PRIDE memories?
Christopher: My favorite pride memory was last year 2017 watching my two children walk down Hennepin Ave with me and my partner all of us hand in hand. They learned about a bigger idea of family and what love means. It was wonderful to be able to show them the power of self acceptance and self-expression.
5/ If you could tell someone one thing about Pride in Minneapolis, what would it be?
Christopher: Pride in Minneapolis is a time to come out (even for all the Minnesota introverts) and really be moved by how much community support and acceptance there really is. Now more than ever is a time when we need to come together in solidarity and love for ourselves and one another.
We LOVE you Christopher, and can’t wait to march with you on Sunday! ❤
